Concentration · Perception · Memorization · Progression

What if you could reproduce a multi-digit number after an exposure so brief that you are not even sure you truly saw it?

Tachy is inspired by the principle of the tachistoscope, an instrument used to present visual stimuli for very brief and precisely controlled durations.

The application brings this principle to the smartphone by allowing exposure duration, exercise difficulty and presentation conditions to be adjusted in order to train and measure rapid visual perception.

Tachy provides training based on the very brief presentation of visual stimuli. The exercise seems simple: observe, retain, then reproduce what was displayed. Yet as exposure time decreases, a few milliseconds can completely change the level of difficulty.

Four complementary areas

Focused training, observable progress

Training is structured around concentration, perception, memorization and progression.

01

Concentration

Remain fully focused at the precise moment the stimulus appears. When exposure lasts only a few tens of milliseconds, attention becomes an essential part of the exercise.

02

Perception

Learn to extract more information from a stimulus shown very briefly. Research on visual perceptual learning indicates that practice can improve performance on the perceptual tasks being trained.

03

Memorization

Retain visual information long enough to reproduce it immediately. The exercise engages immediate visual memory and the ability to hold information briefly before recalling it.

04

Progression

Gradually reduce exposure time, increase the amount of information shown and measure how results evolve. Tachy lets you compare difficulty, display duration and success rate to track progress over time.

Test · Adjust · Repeat

Test. Train. Measure your progress.

Tachy provides precise training for rapid visual perception, concentration and immediate recall.

For each exercise, you can adjust the exposure duration, the amount of information presented and the difficulty level, then repeat the exercise to compare your results with previous attempts.

Recorded scores allow you to track your performance over time and observe your progress in relation to the parameters used.

Closed test

Take part in the development of Tachy

Tachy is not yet publicly available on Google Play. The application is currently being offered through a closed test in order to gather feedback before its public release.

We are particularly interested in hearing from professionals and specialists working in visual perception, cognition, attention or memory, including researchers, educators, physicians, psychologists, neuropsychologists and professionals familiar with or using tachistoscopic methods.

Your experience can help us compare Tachy with current practices, identify the most relevant exercises and parameters, and guide future developments of the application.

If you think Tachy could be of interest to a colleague or another professional in your field, you are also welcome to share this page with them.
